If you haven t experienced any issues heating shutdowns etc i doubt any damage was caused.
Xbox sitting on carpet.
Could i have done any damage to my xbox.
I just got a new xbox one last weekend and on some past consoles i know there were some overheating issues involving carpet floors.
If its very low but carpet like berber it should be fine but you can suck some fibers into the xbox and get the inside very dirty and over time clog up the fans and use it to overheat i keep my xbox ontop of an old school desk my mom has and it stays very welll ventilated if you want to have it on the carpet though i suggest you stand it up on its side but put it up agains something.

Carpet doesnt allow the console to dissipate heat and acts as a blanket which only helps to overheat your console carpets are great at attracting dust dirt carpet fibers so would you breathe in your carpet of course not but placing your console so that its intake is right up against it is the same thing also carpets arent level enoug i almost.
